Second Story Books - Washington, DC
An early Spring visit to my favorite bookstore from my college days in the district. (March 2025)

Had some free time between doctors appointments last week so I stopped by one of my favorite bookstores in the district: Second Story Books.

I always love looking at all their rare, antique, & first edition selections.

That copy of A Christmas Carol was particularly tempting & only $15k!

1. SPLIT TOOTH by Tanya Tagaq.
This book has been on my TBR for a while now & I am so excited to have finally found it at an indie bookstore.
2. SELECTED POEMS of Zbigniew Herbert.
Herbert was a favorite of mine in college so I thought it was only appropriate to take home this small collection of his work from my favorite college-era local bookstore featuring a few of my favorites of his classical archaeology related poems such as “xx” & “xx.” Looking forward to this nostalgic reread this summer.
3. SIMPLIFIED BOOKBINDING: How to bind and repair books at home using simple, modern techniques, by Henry Gross
My favorite thing about shopping second-hand books is by far finding those random old copies of books you never even knew you needed. Since I’ve been getting most of my books second hand over the past few years, a few of them are in somewhat precious conditions so having this book as a reference when I need to do some repairs on the more fragile copies will be excellent.
What was the last used books / secondhand bookstore you visited?
